LORNE THOMPSON KIRBY Lorne passed away peacefully while he slept on Sunday morning, December 19, 2004 with his son Greg and daughter-in-law Debbie by his side. He was predeceased in May 2000 by his loving wife Grace (nee Clague) after 44 years of marriage. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Kim and Greg and their spouses, Ted Barthold and Debbie Kirby. He will be especially missed by his faithful canine companion, Sara. Lorne loved flying and served as a Captain with the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War. He loved his many hobbies, which included woodworking, building, and mechanics. If he wasn't tinkering with something that was broken, he was building something new. He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage working on his hobbies and appreciated nature. His first priority was his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, and a tremendous example of strength and integrity to those who knew and loved him. In accordance with Lorne's wishes, a small private gathering will be held to honour this wonderful man. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
